Need help paying for school?

Texas Public Education Grant

What is a T.P.E.G. Grant?

A T.P.E.G. Grant, unlike a student loan, does not have to be repaid.  T.P.E.G. Grants are only awarded to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s or professional degree.

How do I qualify?

To determine if you are eligible, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid along with the North Harris College institutional forms.  Based on the information you submit, the school follows a standard formula designed by the U.S. Department of Education to produce an EFC number (expected family contribution).

How much will I get?

Since T.P.E.G. Grants are need-based, how much you will get depends not only on your EFC but also your cost of attendance and whether you are a full-time or

part-time student.

How will the funds be disbursed?

If you are awarded before the semester begins, your T.P.E.G. Grant award will automatically be credited to your account to help pay for your tuition, fees, and/or books.  Any remaining balance of tuition, fees, and/or books not paid for by the T.P.E.G. Grant is your responsibility to pay.

Once tuition, fees, and/or books have been paid for by the T.P.E.G. Grant, any remaining credit balance on your account will be mailed to you approximately 30 days after the start of the class that matches your level of award.

If you are awarded after the start of the semester, your T.P.E.G. Grant award will be credited to your account and mailed to you approximately 30 days after the start of the class that matches your level of award.
